Gajanana


Sung as an aarti, this power-packed number from Bajirao Mastani (2015) is sure to stay with you long after it has ended. The use of cymbals alongside Sukhwinder Singh’s intense voice is a winning combination. The song has been composed by Shreyas Puranik and penned by Prashant Ingole. 
 
 
Deva Shree Ganesha


There is something about the beats of a dhol, isn’t it? It instantly wants you to break into a jig. The high use of the dhol in this song from Agneepath (2012) blends well with the carnival-like atmosphere that Ganesh Chaturthi is synonymous with. Sung by Sukhwinder Singh, written by Amitabh Bhattacharya and composed by Ajay-Atul, the track features Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra. 
 
 
Mera Hi Jalwa


This peppy track from Salman Khan’s Wanted (2009) will instantly energise you. No wonder, it’s played in almost every Ganpati pandal across the city. Sung by Wajid and picturised on Sallu (with guest appearances by Prabhu Dheva, Govinda and Anil Kapoor), the song is a perfect desi number.

The song from Shah Rukh Khan’s Don: The Chase Begins (2006) is a tribute to the spirit of the Ganpati festival. The infusion of dhol beats in this number as well makes it one of Shah Rukh’s most groove worthy songs. Well, when you have Shankar Mahadevan’s vocals, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music and Javed Akhtar’s lyrics, it’s difficult to go wrong.
 
Sadda Dil Vi Tu


Sadda Dil Vi Tu from ABCD (2013) can be termed as one of the most unique Ganpati tracks of Bollywood. For, here the singer Hard Kaur brilliantly combines rap with Ganesh aarti. In fact, the beauty of the number lies in the fact that it does not lose its traditional essence despite being given a modern twist. The song has been composed by Sachin-Jigar.
 
Sindoor Lal Chadhayo


While most Bollywood Ganpati songs will make you tap your feet, Sindoor Lal Chadhayo from Vaastav (1999) is a soulful aarti which is best hummed along with family à la Sanjay Dutt and Namrata Shirodkar in the song. The stirring number has been written by Sameer and composed by Jatin-Lalit.
 
Ganapati Bappa Agle Baras Tu


This track features Madhuri Dixit dancing at a Ganesh Chaturthi procession. Crooned by Lata Mangeshkar and composed by Rajesh Roshan, this song from Aasoo Bane Angaarey (1993), will tug at your heartstrings.

Deva Ho Deva Ganpati Deva

 
Deva Ho Deva Ganpati Deva is one of the classic Ganpati songs and a hot favourite amongst the followers. The use of manjeera twangs and dhol beats will tansport you into the spiritual world and before you know it, you are humming the song. The number from Hum Se Badhkar Kaun (1981) is sung by legends Mohammed Rafi, Asha Bhosle, Shailendra Singh and Bhupinder Singh and composed by Raam Laxman.
